Trauma affects everyone. You may have experienced a traumatic event yourself, or it may have happened to a loved one. However, many people are not aware of how trauma may permanently affect their behavior, and how it can come back to haunt them in the future.
In this post, you will find 5 TED talks on trauma that will change your life. It includes eye-opening videos about the long-term effects of trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and inspiration for resilience and healing.
TED Talk #1: Understanding PTSD’s Effects on Brain, Body, and Emotions
Janet Seahorn, Ph.D. has researched and studied the effects of trauma on the brain and how it can impact changes in the brain’s neural network. In this informative TED talk, she goes in-depth about how society needs to understand the shocking and long-lasting effects of excessive or extreme trauma and how it changes the behaviors in our brains, body, and emotions.

My trauma was due to my son being murdered, it was totally unexpected . it has affected my life in ways that no mother, father,or sibling should ever have to deal with , it was horrible and not resolved yet. if you have some insight please share with me.
I am so sorry to hear about the unimaginable pain you’ve been through due to the tragic loss of your son. Dealing with such a traumatic event is undoubtedly one of the most difficult challenges anyone can face. The suddenness and violence of his passing must have left you with a complex mix of emotions that can be incredibly hard to process. If you have not already, seeking professional help can provide guidance in coping, and connecting with support groups might offer comfort through shared experiences. Also, remembering and honoring your son’s life in meaningful ways can be part of the healing process. Whether it’s creating a memorial, participating in a charity event, dedicating acts of kindness to his memory, or finding other ways to celebrate his life. Please know that you’re not alone in your pain, and there are people and resources available to help you navigate this❤️
I will be watching these. I “surrendered ” my infant son for adoption in 1972. I was sent away, coerced and manipulated into believing that this was the RIGHT thing to do, for my son and for me. Nothing prepared me for a lifetime of pain, of lowered self esteem of feeling unworthy just because I was pregnant and not married. I will be sharing these with other first/birth moms who have a great deal of trauma also due to being duped into relinquishing their babies for adoption.
